Chinese Massage

Chinese massage is a targeted therapeutic massage directly addressing an area of concern. As with acupuncture, tui na massage is at least two thousand years old. Unlike deep tissue or sports massage, which focuses on releasing tight muscles, tui na techniques also aim to promote overall health by promoting the flow of energy around the body. Massage oil can be used, but generally the techniques are carried out over clothing. Sometimes the client will have the treatment while sitting on a chair, but usually while lying on the treatment couch.

This massage approach can help with a range of health problems. These include:

  • Boosting low mood, reducing stress and anxiety and helping insomnia.

  • Musculoskeletal disorders such as frozen shoulder, whiplash injury, chronic back pain, sciatica

  • Repetitive strain injury

  • Arthritis

  • Digestive system disorders such as IBS and constipation

  • Reproductive system and endocrine system disorders such as menopausal hot flushes and PMT

  • Headaches, migraine

  • Insomnia

  • Muscle tension

  • Fatigue

  • Stress

Tui Na can ease stress from tense muscles, and can comfort, soothe and uplift. It is usually performed alongside acupuncture treatment.
